Marathon, Iowa—Mr. and Mrs. William Kruse of Marathon have four sons in the army, they are Private First Class Eppo Kruse, who left in May 1941 and is now somewhere in North Africa; Private First Class George Kruse of Camp Hood, Texas; Private John Kruse, Fort Lewis, Washington and Private Peter Kruse of Fort Still, Oklahoma. John and Peter Kruse entered the service in December 1942.

William and Epke Williams Kruse had four sons serving their country in World War II: Eppo, Peter, George, & John Kruse.
John was born Sept. 10, 1921. He died Apr. 8, 1999 and is buried in Poland Township Cemetery, Marathon, IA.
Cpl. Kruse served with the U.S. Army in both World War II and Korea.
