Mechanicsville Soldier Missing

MECHANICSVILLE—Technician (4/g) Charles W. Koppenhaver, has been listed as missing in action in Germany since Dec. 16. He entered service in March, 1943, and was sent overseas last October. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Edson Koppenhaver of Mechanicsville. His wife is staying with her parents at Beveir, Mo. A brother, John Melvin Koppenhaver, also is serving in the European area.

Charles William “Willie" Koppenhaver was born Apr. 24, 1908 to Edson and Ella Mae Blanch Koppenhaver. He died Mar. 18, 1945 and is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville, IA.
Charles served with the U.S. Army 106th Infantry Division.
