REPORT GARNER AIRMAN MISSING

Flight Officer Knoll B-24 Co-Pilot Bomber

Garner -- Mr. and Mrs. George Knoll of Garner have been notified by the war department that their son, Flight Officer Edmund B. Knoll is missing in action over Germany since March 2. Flight Officer Knoll was a co-pilot on a B-24 bomber. He was home Jan. 1 for about 10 days and went overseas late in January.

Edmund was born and reared here and was graduated from Garner high school in 1940. He had been in service about 2 years.

He has a brother, Sgt. Anthony Knoll, 26, who is in the air corps in France. A sister, Mary Ann Knoll, is employed in Marshalltown.

Son Reported Dead

GARNER, IA. -- Mr. and Mrs. George Knoll were advised by the war department that their son, Flight Officer George B. Knoll who has been missing in action since Mar. 2 1945, while on his second mission over Germany, is now considered to be officially dead.
