Gale G. Knerr was born Feb. 22, 1919 to Maynard Elmore and Osa Gladys Knerr. He died Feb. 1, 1945 and is buried in Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.
Sgt. Knerr served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps Headquarters Squadron, 19th Bomber Group, Heavy and was MIA/KIA/FOD in the Philippine Islands. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
