Marlin E. Klassie was born July 26, 1924 to Samuel H. and Oneida Maurer Klassie. He died Oct. 25, 1945 and is buried in the Vernon Township Cemetery, Renwick, IA.
Lt. Klassie served as a Thunderbolt pilot with the 12th Air Force in World War II. He had completed sixty-four missions before the end of the war and had been awarded the air medal and oak leaf clusters. His death occurred in a plane crash while on flight duty over Salzburg, Austria.
