Michael Gerald “Gerald” Kennedy was born Dec. 27, 1919 to Michael P. and Emma Schmitt Kennedy. He died Nov. 13, 1943 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands.
Lt. Kennedy served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 409th Bomber Squadron, 93rd Bomb Group, Heavy and was MIA/KIA/FOD. He was a crew member on a B-24 (Liberator) bomber which failed to return from a bombing mission to Bremen, Germany. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross.
