Evan Robert Kelchner was born Mar. 25, 1925 to Robert N. and Grace Matilda Kelchner. He died Apr. 15, 1945 and is buried in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. He was initially buried in 6th Marine Division Cemetery Okinawa and returned to the U.S. in 1949.
Cpl. Kelchner served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps 6th Marine Division. He was a Fire Team Leader (MOS 737) and participated in combat operations on Okinawa until KIA. He was awarded the Silver Star.
