Sgt. Albert Henry Kahler

 

 

 

Albert Henry Kahler was born Aug. 4, 1913 to Paul W. and Mary Christine Chase Kahler. He died Aug. 7, 1944 and is buried in Zachary Taylor National Cemetery, Nicholasville, KY. He was originally interred overseas and later repatriated to Kentucky on June 22, 1950.

Sgt. Kahler served with the U.S. Army Air Corps 585th Bomber Squadron, 394th Bomber Group as an Engineer/Gunner on B-26B #42-96113 which was shot down by German ground anti-aircraft fire and crashed near Lixieux, France. He was KIA in this crash and awarded the Purple Heart.
