Jerry Juzek to play With Macon in Southern Loop
Jerry Juzek, former marine sergeant and ex-Central High School and Mississippi University football star, left Tuesday for Macon, Ga., to begin spring training for the 1946 campaign in the Southern league.
Juzek is a pitcher with the Nashville Volunteers. He played with the Vols last season and the year before that with the Los Angeles Angels of the Prairie Coast league. Both are double A circuits.
Juzek was given a medical discharge from the Marine Corps in the summer of 1943 after being wounded by shrapnel in fighting in the Solomons area. He served with the marine raiders under the leadership of Col. Jimmy Roosevelt.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Juzek, 3126 Myrtle Street.
