Richard ‘Dick’ Jones was born Apr. 21, 1924 to William Dewey and Blanch Wepel Jones. He died May 23, 2014.

Dick served in the U.S. Army in World War II.

Richard "Dick" Jones, 90, of Webster City, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 23, 2014. Funeral

He was born on April 21, 1924 in Kamrar, IA to William and Blanche (Wepel) Jones. He grew up in Kamrar, graduated from Kamrar High School, and attended Webster City Jr. College.

Dick served in the Army during WWII, he returned home and was married to Dorothy E. Schweppe on June 3, 1945.

He worked mainly on the family farm. He purchased Bob Burns Sporting Goods and turned it into Jones Sporting Goods Store for 27 years. Dick returned to farming until he was 79 years old.

His wife, Dorothy passed away in 2008. In the spring of 2009 Dick married Mary Riley.

Dick was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, White Shrine, the Webster City Men's Chorus, and was an elder in the Webster City Church of Christ for 56 years. He enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, guns, garage sales and he water skied into his late 70's.

His family includes his wife Mary; son: Loren of Palm Harbor, FL; son in laws: Rich (Janet) Toering of Webster City and his brother Sid (Katie)Toering of Faribault, MN, Ron (Bernie) Riley of Colorado Springs, CO, Larry (Shirley) Riley of Ozark, MO and Gary Riley of Overland Park, KS; granddaughter Melissa (Matt) Pulis of Lee's Summit, MO; two great grandchildren: Megan and Mason Pulis; brother Jerold Jones of Webster City; and sister Avis Cook of Mercedes, TX.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy and daughter Linda Toering.

Services will be Thursday, May 29 at 1:30 PM at the Webster City Church of Christ.
