80 Kossuth Men Officially Listed As Casualties In War  
FIRST RELEASE OF STATE HISTORICAL DEATH SUMMARIES  

Eighty men from Kossuth county lost their lives while in the service of their country in World War II. 

KOSSUTH'S WAR DEAD. 

Johnson, Virgil, Pfc.
Died of wounds 11-8-44 received in Luxembourg.
Mother: Mrs. Ada Ross Johnson, 418 N. Minn., Algona, Ia.

Virgil Forrest Johnson was born Mar. 5, 1921 to Albert Nelson and Ada Ross Johnson. He died Nov. 8, 1944 and is buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium.

Pvt. Johnson served in World War II with the U.S. Army 329th Infantry Regiment, 83rd Infantry Division and died of wounds received in action in Luxembourg. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
