IN UNIFORM
Sgt. Vernord L. Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Johnson, 700 S. Linn Street, who was wounded in the invasion of France, is now at a hospital in England. His brother Sherwood, techninician fourth grade, who is stationed in England visited him recently and reported that he is “improving nicely.” Both boys were mail carriers here prior to entrance into service.

Vernord Leslie Johnson was born Sept. 17, 1913 to Charley and Sarah Juanita Christiansen Johnson. He died Nov. 20, 1944 and was buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, IA on Oct. 30, 1948.
Sgt. Johnson served in World War II with the U.S. Army and was KIA in Germany.
