Maris William Johnson was born Dec. 11, 1897 to William Adelbert and Elmira Entriken Johnson. He died Mar. 8, 1979 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, IA.
Sgt. Johnson served in World War II with Co. F, Iowa State Guard for five years. He also served in World War I with the U.S. Army Signal Corps.

Maris W. Johnson, 81, lifelong Webster City resident, died early yesterday afternoon at the Hamilton County hospital where he had been a patient for one week.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Richard J. Hanson officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.
Maris William Johnson, son of William and Elmira Entriken Johnson, was born Dec. 11, 1897 at Webster City and was reared and educated here, being graduated from high school in 1916.
He attended college at Ames for two years. He served with the U.S Army Signal Corps from 1918 to 1919.
He was united in marriage June 15, 1921 to Ruth D. Richardson, and the couple had always resided here. He was an electrician in Webster City for many years, retiring about five years ago.
He was a charter member of Co. F, Iowa State Guard serving from 1941 through 1945.
He is survived by his wife; one son, William A. Johnson, and a daughter-in-law, Marie Johnson of Fair Oaks, Calif., David of Reseno, Calif. and Douglas of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and two nieces, Mrs. Robert Naden, Webster City, and Mrs. Don Barker of Iowa Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
He was a member of the First Baptist church; the World War I Veterans, the American Legion Post 191; the Webster City Camera Club, Dermand’s Birthday club and the Senior Citizens club.
