HELPS IN CLUB.
According to a dispatch from Fifth army headquarters in Italy, Sgt. Howard F. Johnson, son of Mrs. Christina Johnson of Webster City, heads the entertainment committee of “The Foxhole,” a club for non-commissioned officers of the 3rd battalion, 361st infantry regiment of the 91st Powder River division, which opened recently at Gorizia, Italy, where the regiment is now stationed. The club, operated by a board of directors of non-com officers, is in a building leased by the non-coms and staffed by civilian help. It includes a large billiard room and an outdoor garden. Sergeant Johnson’s wife and family also reside in Webster City.

Obituary:
Howard F. Johnson, 72, Webster City, died Saturday, July 18, 15 his home. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Torger Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Graveside military services will be conducted by the American Legion Post No. 191. Visitation is at the Foster Funeral home until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday when the casket will be taken to the church.
Howard Falk Johnson, son of Charles and Christina (Falk) Johnson, was born May 16, 1920 in Webster City. He attended Webster City schools.
On Aug. 17, 1941, he married Theda Kennedy at Kamrar.
During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army 361st Infantry as a mess sergeant. He served at Camp Dodge in Des Moines, Camp White in Midford, Ore., and for two years in the Italian Campaign. He then returned to Webster City and was manager of the meat department at Fareway for 20 years. He operated the Dairy Sweets Drive-In from 1960-1964. Then he was a salesman for Hight Chevrolet Olds until 1971. From 1975 until January of 1992, he operated Johnson Lock and Key Service.
He is survived by his wife; son, Terry Johnson, Spencer; son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Mary Johnson, Independence; grandchildren, Karen, Keith and Christine Johnson; and sisters, Alice Miller and Helen Johnson, both of Webster City. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ralph; and sister, Mable.
He attended Asbury United Methodist Church and was a member of the American Legion for the past 46 years, a member of the VFW, a former Elks Club member, member of the Webster City Moose Lodge and American Locksmith Association, board member for the Congregate Meals and a former member of the State Guard.

Howard served with the U.S. Army in World War II with the 361st Infantry Regiment in Italy.
