Fred Junior ‘Fritz’ Johnson was born Aug. 12, 1926 to Fred R. and Tillie S. Wicks Johnson. He died Sept. 28, 2005 and is buried in the Kossuth Cemetery, Kossuth, IA.
Fred served with the U.S. Navy in World War II.

Fred "Fritz" Johnson Jr., 79, of rural Morning Sun died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, at his home.
Born Aug. 12, 1926, in Williams, he was the son of Fred and Tillie Wicks Johnson. He first married Virginia Johnson. On April 28, 1973, he married Helen Korf Cover in Nashua.
Mr. Johnson was a farmer for many years and later worked in real estate with Coldwell Banker at Ross Realtors in Muscatine. He was then a car salesman for Deery Bros. in West Burlington.
He attended school in Radcliffe and was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mediapolis and the American Legion Hays Scott Post 112 in Morning Sun. He was a former member of the Morning Sun Lions Club. He was named outstanding young farmer in 1961 by the Morning Sun Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was active in soybean associations and enjoyed traveling to the conventions. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, family gatherings, farming, raising livestock and his horses.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Tim Johnson of Champaign, Ill.; one daughter, Melanie Kleinhans of Warsaw, Ohio; two stepdaughters, Vicki Carlson of Des Moines and Julie Moehle of Mediapolis; three stepsons, Randy Cover of Sperry, Terry Cover of Morning Sun and Kevin Cover of Riverside; seven grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and two sisters, Thelma Hill of Webster City and JoAnn Chalfant of Ozark, Miss.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
Visitation was from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun.
The funeral for Mr. Johnson will be 11:30 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Mediapolis, with the Rev. John Gaulke officiating. Burial with military rites performed by the Morning Sun American Legion Hays Scott Post 112 will be in Kossuth Cemetery.
