Francis Marion Johnson was born June 15, 1912 to Isaac LeRoy and Weltha Victoria Rhodes Johnson. He died Feb. 25, 1995 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery, Webster City, IA.

Francis served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II in Section 1, 125th AAF Base Unit (Ftr).

Francis M. Johnson, 82, Jewell, died Feb. 25, 1995 at Hamilton County Public Hospital. A prayer service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Foster Funeral Home with the Rev. Craig Bex officiating. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Catholic Church with the Rev. John Walsh officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion Post 191. Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Francis Marion Johnson, son or Isaac LeRoy and Weltha Victoria (Rhodes) Johnson, was born June 15, 1912 on a farm near Trilla, Ill. In 1919, the family moved to Webster City where he was educated. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Air Force. Following his discharge in 1944, he farmed near Stanhope.

On Nov. 21, 1958, he married Maxine Zeihan Abbey. The couple farmed northwest of Jewell from 1960 until his retirement in 1976. They continued to reside on the farm.

He is survived by his wife; son, Frank G. of Jewell; daughter and son-in-law, Zona and Russ Graves of Webster City; grandchildren, Joshua Graves and Johanna and Chandra Johnson; brother, Roger Noble Johnson of Ames; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

He was a member of the Hamilton County Farm Bureau and the American Legion Post 191 since 1945.
