James Frederich Johansen was born Jan. 8, 1924 to Fred A. and Naomi B. Johansen. He died Oct. 26, 1944 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines and is buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Des Moines, IA.
Lt. Johansen served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 424th Bomber Squadron, 307th Bomber Group, Heavy and was MIA/FOD/KIA over Mindanao Island, Philippine Islands and was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart.
