Woodrow ( Woody ) Jensen, 90, of Webster City, died Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Washington Lutheran Church at Duncombe, with Rev. James Zuehls officiating. Burial will be in the Washington
Lutheran Cemetery, south of Duncombe. Visitation will be one hour before the memorial service. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post # 191 of Webster City. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.
Woodrow John Jensen, son of Elias and Elizabeth Woods Jensen, was born April 30, 1920 on a farm northeast of Duncombe. He attended the Fremont Township #4 rural school until the eighth grade, when he began farming the family farm near Duncombe. He had spent nearly 22 years farming prior to entering the U. S. Army during WWII. Following his discharge, he worked construction in Des Moines, where he had helped construct the Iowa Methodist, Mercy and Blank Children's Hospitals. He had also worked on construction projects in the Waterloo and New Hampton communities.
Woody is survived by son, Larry Jensen of Webster City; daughters and son-in-law, Connie Jensen of Webster City; Phyllis and Chuck Thompson of Berwick; honorary daughter and spouse, LaVon and Buster Rounds of Des Moines; 6 Grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; twin brother, Wallace Jensen of Webster City; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Anderson; Helen Jensen and Anna Stapp; brother, Weldon Jensen and nephew, Wallace Jensen, Jr.
He was a member of Washington Lutheran Church in Duncombe, where he was baptized and most recently the Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City.
