Pvt. Jacobsen served with the 21st Marines, 3rd Marine Division and was KIA on Iwo Jima. He was initially buried in the 3rd Marine Division Cemetery on Iwo Jima and returned to the U.S. for permanent burial in Humboldt, Iowa in 1948.
