Robert L. Hopkins was born Feb. 28, 1923 to Charles O. (Jr.) and Maggie Cato Hopkins. He died Apr. 28, 1944 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, England and has a cenotaph in Rose Hill Cemetery, Shenandoah, IA.
Sgt. Hopkins served in World War II with the U.S. Army 3206th Quartermaster Service Company and was MIA/KIA over the English Channel and was awarded the Purple Heart.
