P.F.C. VIRGIL HOFFMAN IN RADIO SCHOOL

Pfc. Virgil D. Hoffman, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Hoffman has started his studies as a radio operator-mechanic at the A. A. F. Technical training command school in Chicago, operating in the buildings formerly occupied by the Stevens and Congress hotels and Chicago’s historical coliseum.

When he completes his training there, Pfc. Hoffman may be assigned to the communications section of an Air Force ground unit in a combat zone, or after further training as an aerial gunner, will take his place as radio operator in a bomber crew.

Virgil Duane Hoffman was born May 23, 1921 to Elmer Ross and Verna Murriel Welch Hoffman. He died Mar. 29, 2009 and is buried in Spirit Lake Memorial Gardens, Spirit Lake, IA.
