Wendell Francis Hicks was born Aug. 10, 1918 to Clifford and Laura Hicks. He died May 25, 1945 and is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Court 7, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Lt. Hicks served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 58th Wing, 462nd Group, 769th Squadron and was a crew member of a B-29 “Super-fortress” aircraft which departed Tinian Island, Marianas Islands on a combat bombing mission to Tokyo, Japan. His plane was neither seen nor heard from after its departure. He was reported MIA, later FOD/KIA. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Air Medal.
