William Harold Hanke was born July 27, 1917 to Alva and Lela Hughes Hanke. He died Aug. 13, 1941 and is buried in Newton Union Cemetery, Newton, IA.
Pvt. Hanke served in World War II with the U.S. Army Battery A. 53rd Field Artillery Training Battalion at Camp Roberts, CA where he died while in the service of his country.
