--Born to Sgt. and Mrs. Darwin Hopkins (Kathryn Johnson) a son, Dennis Keith, weight 8 lbs. 10 oz., at Mercy hospital, Oelwein, Sunday, Dec. 31. Sgt. Hopkins is a tail gunner in the air corps in France, having gone overseas in May. His wife has been with her mother, Mrs. Tom Johnson, and with his parents at Dysart. Sgt. Hopkins was a student at U.I.U. before entering the service.

-- Sgt. Darwin Hopkins has returned from about a year's service overseas as a tail gunner in the air corps in the European theatre. Sgt. Hopkins, wife and small son visited his parents in Dysart and came to Fayette this week for a visit in the Mrs. Tom Johnson home.

Darwin Dee “Hop” Hopkins was born Feb. 28, 1925 to Delbert Keith and Lillian Aldora Mathews Hopkins. He died May 6, 2023.
