Clarence Orval Holt was born Apr. 27, 1919 to Bertil and Inger Bertine Eik Holt. He died May 30, 1960 and is buried in the Blairsburg Cemetery, Blairsburg, IA.

Pvt. Holt served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

Holt Services To Be Friday

Funeral services for Clarence O. (Buss) Holt, 41, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Congregational church in Blairsburg with the Rev. Clark Crowell officiating and with burial in the Blairsburg cemetery.

Military services will be held at graveside. The body will lie in state at the Foster funeral home until 10 a.m. Friday, when it will be taken to the church.

Mr. Holt, widely known Blairsburg businessman, died at 6:45 Tuesday morning at the Mercy hospital in Mason City. He and his family had been spending a few days at Clear Lake where he was taken suddenly ill, and he was hospitalized last Wednesday noon.

Clarence Orval Holt, son of Bertil and Bertine Holt, was born April 27, 1919, on a farm near Ellsworth. He was reared and educated in the Ellsworth community, later moving to Blairsburg, where he operated the Phillips 66 service station. He entered World War II in 1942 and served in the Aleutian Islands sector.

After his discharge from service, he returned to Blairsburg and again operated the Phillips 66 station. He had operated the station for the past 20 years.

He was united in marriage Oct. 4, 1941 to Agnes Jansen, and to this union one son and two daughters were born: Pamela, 14, Patricia, 12, and Michael, 9. Besides his wife and children, two brothers and two sisters survive: Manville and Sigvald Holt, both of Blairsburg; Miss Bergliot Holt, Chicago, and Miss Marguerite Holt, Ellsworth; one half-sister, Mrs. Alvin Palmer, Lakefield, Minnesota; an three half-brothers, Martin Holt, Fairbault, Minn., and Otto Holt, Alpha, Minn., and Adolph Holt, Fremont, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one half-brother Clarence Holt.

Mr. Holt was baptized and confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran faith at Ellsworth, later transferring to the Congregational church at Blairsburg. He was a former trustee of the church. He was a member of the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge at Williams, the Elk club at Webster City and the Odd Fellows lodge at Blairsburg. He was a member of the Blairsburg town council.
