J. M. HAYMOFF LISTED DEAD
Pvt. (f.c.) Joseph M. Haymoff, a paratrooper, was killed in action in France on D-Day, June 6, the War Department informed his wife, Mrs. Joseph M. Haymoff, 1519 Grand ave., Friday.
Private Haymoff was reported as missing in action on July 7.
He entered the army in March 1942, and had served overseas since May, 1943. He had seen action in Sicily and had been awarded the Purple Heart.
Private Haymoff attended the University of Rochester, Rochester, N.Y. before entering service had been employed by Davidson’s Furniture Store.
Surviving are his wife, who is head of the catalogue department at the city library, his father, Jacob Haymoff of Rochester, four sisters, and a brother.

Joseph M. Haymoff was born in 1914 to Jacob and Minnie Mickelson Haymoff. He died June 6, 1944 and is buried in Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France.
