IN UNIFORM.
Tom Hannafin, shipfitter third class, is spending a 30-day leave with his mother, Mrs. E. Ostermire, 2001 S. Newton avenue, after serving 23 months in the South Pacific aboard a submarine tender. He guarded prisoners a short time on Saipan.
While in Hawaii, he and three Sioux City boys held a reunion. The other boys are Pfc. Bill Hard and Pfc. Fred Hard, 3420 Third avenue, brothers in the infantry, and Seaman First Class Don McDonald, Garretson avenue.
Tom is a graduate of East high school and enlisted three years ago.
