Merle Bernard “Bernie” Hanson was born Nov. 10, 1919 to Peder J. and Isabel J. Nelson Hanson. He died May 3, 1945 and is buried in Norway Lake Cemetery, Thor, IA.
Pvt. Hanson served with the U.S. Army, Co. F, 21st Infantry in World War II. He was KIA on Mindanao in the Philippine Islands.
