Edward Ambrose John Hand was born Dec. 8, 1918 to John and Elizabeth Jetter Hand. He died Aug. 7, 1992 and is buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, IA.
Petty Officer Hand served with the U.S. Navy in World War II aboard the USS Astoria (CA-34) and USS Santa Fe (CL-60). He was aboard the Astoria when it was lost in night action off Guadalcanal.
