William Burdell Gilleard was born Oct. 15, 1918 to William Laird and Marie L. Elkins Gilleard. He died Oct. 21, 1944 and is buried in Keokuk National Cemetery, Keokuk, IA. He was initially buried in USAF Cemetery Leyte No. 1, Philippine Islands.
Sgt. Gilleard served in World War II with the U.S. Army 19th Infantry, 24th Infantry Division and was KIA while serving his country.
