C. A. Gatewood Died Saturday
Charles A. Gatewood, 45, longtime Webster City resident, died Saturday morning at the Veterans hospital in Des Moines. He had been in ill health the past four years.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev.George Eddy officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.
Charles A. Gatewood, son of Fred and Daisy Marie Gatewood, was born Sept. 10, 1920, at Webster City, and he was reared and educated in this community.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from Nov. 6, 1941. to Nov. 28, 1945, in the European war theater.
He is survived by his father, Fred E. Gatewood, Sr., Webster City, five brothers and four sisters; Francis D. Brown, Cedar Rapids, Fred E. Gatewood, Jr., Donald W. Gatewood, Cedar Rapids, Delbert E. Gatewood, Robert L. Gatewood, Mrs. Robert (Evelyn) Wagner, Mrs. Gary (Gloria) Young and Mrs. Kevin (Connie Jo) Hilpipre, all of Webster City and Mrs. Earl (Beverly) Berleen of Vincent; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Gatewood was preceded in death by his mother on March 1, 1962; and one sister, Rose LaVonne Samuell.
