Claire Eugene Gates was born Mar. 6, 1922 to Galen R. and Adah Rosella Hesalroad Gates. He died Aug. 21, 1944 and is buried in Hillside Cemetery, Marble Rock, IA.
Lt. Gates served in World War II as a bombardier with the U.S. Army Air Corps and died near Model, CO as the result of an airplane accident.
