Harold R. Fortney was born June 4, 1916 to John Harrison and Bessie Grace Jenkins Fortney. He died Oct. 13, 1944 and is buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium.
Pvt. Fortney served in World War II with the U.S. Army 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division and was KIA in Germany and awarded the Purple Heart.
