Melfred Laverne “Gus” Forsman was born Mar. 22, 1920 to Gustave “Gust” and Nellie Forsman. He died Dec. 1, 2005 and is buried in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX.
Petty Officer Forsman served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Houston (CA-30) and became a Japanese POW. He also served with the U.S. Army and was in Korea and Vietnam as well as WWII. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
