Navy Decorates Hartley Flier
Hartley, Ia.—Special: Lieut. Leonard E. Ewoldt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Ewoldt of Hartley, was one of the six fliers recently cited for heroism and decorated at ceremonies at the Jacksonville naval air station. Lieut. Ewoldt received the navy cross for “heroic and distinguished service” while piloting a plane in a torpedo squadron in two attacks against Jap forces at Tulagi harbor. He is a graduate of Hartley high school and also of the United States Naval Academy.
