Arling Erickson, age 84, of Radcliffe, IA, died on Friday, November 10, 2006 at Colonial Manor of Zearing.
Funeral services were held on Monday, November 13, 2006 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth, IA. Arling Erickson was buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell, IA.
Arling Glenwood Erickson was born on February 17, 1922 on a farm near Radcliffe, Iowa. He was second of six children born to E. Orian and Olillian (Lunning) Erickson.
He received his education by attending country school in Hamilton County and graduated from Jewell High School with the Class of 1942.
On April 23, 1945 Arling was united in marriage to Lola G. Trampel at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. A week later he was inducted into the United States Navy. Upon retuning from the service, they lived on Lola’s parents farm and Arling worked at the hardware store in Jewell, Iowa. They farmed west of Jewell for 15 years and then moved to a farm west of Radcliffe, Iowa where they have lived for the last 42 years. He had retired from farming in 1992.
Arling’s first interest was in farming but he also loved motorcycling, snowmobiling or whatever he could do to have fun.
Death came to Arling on Friday, November 10, 2006 at the Colonial Manor in Zearing, Iowa.
Those remaining to cherish his memory include his wife Lola and son Reggie of rural Radcliffe, Iowa; four grandchildren, Tanis and Amanda Hooper of San Antonio, Texas, Danielle Malaise of Pleasant Hill, Iowa and Dustin Golden of Ames, Iowa; two great-grandchildren; two brothers Elston Erickson of Jewell, Iowa and Harold Erickson of Green Ridge, Missouri; one sister Opal Hocker of Ames, Iowa; along with many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents one son Douglas, one daughter Diane Golden and two brothers Robert Erickson and infant Orian Erickson.
