Emmett Beatty Engle was born Oct. 18, 1906 to James Israel and Anna M. Beatty Engle. He died Jan. 3, 1945 and is buried in Epinal American Cemetery and Memorial, Dinoze, France. He has a cenotaph in Forest Cemetery, Oskaloosa, IA.
Sgt. Engle served in World War II with the U.S. Army 19th Armored Infantry Battalion, 14th Armored Division and was KIA. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
