Herman W. Engel was born June 26, 1912 to Henry and Anna Engel. He died Dec. 24, 1944 and is buried in Lorraine American Cemetery, St. Avold, France.
Sgt. Engel served in World War II with the U.S. Army 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division and was KIA in France and awarded the Purple Heart.
