Virgil Loren Emerson was born Nov. 19, 1916 to Glen Earl and Effie Eleanor Bates Emerson. He died July 28, 1943 and is buried in Nevada Municipal Cemetery, Nevada, IA.
Major Emerson served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 96th Bomb Group and was MIA/FOD/KIA when his plane was shot down over the North Sea.
