PVT. CORNELIUS ELSHUIS
Pvt. Cornelius Elshuis, son-in-law of Mr. Art Vanden Brink of Sioux Center entered the service on Dec. 3. He received his basic training at Camp Grant. He has had one furlough in April. He has been stationed at Camp Beale, Calif. until just recently Mr. Vanden Brink received his overseas address. Arthur is in limited service due to his eyes. Prior to his entrance he was a truck driver in Hospers.

He was a truck driver before entering the service and his wife is employed in the meat market in Hospers.

Cornelius Elshuis was born Aug. 8, 1908 at East Saugatuck, Michigan, and was living at Hospers, Iowa prior to entering the Army on Dec. 2, 1943 at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He served with the 982nd Ambulance Company, departed for foreign service on May 26, 1944 and returned on Dec. 14, 1945. He was honorably discharged on Dec. 24, 1945. His application for bonus pay was filed on May 6, 1949, for which he received $317.50.
