Pfc. Howard Ellison Succumbs to Injuries
Little Cedar -- Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ellison, farmers living north of town, received word that their son, Pfc. Howard Ellison, had died of wounds received in action.
Pvt. Ellison was graduated from the local high school with the class of 1938. He entered service in April, 1941, taking his first training at Camp Claiborne. He went overseas as a member of the famous 34th division in March 1942. He served in England, Africa and Italy.
While in Africa he was a member of the select guard and took part in many good fellowship parades. Later he was sent to Italy and was in front line fighting several months. He was wounded Sept. 17 and died later the same day.

Howard Bond Ellison was born Apr. 18, 1918 to Charles and Laura Bond Ellison. He died Sept. 17, 1944 and is buried in Florence American Cemetery, Toscana, Italy and has a cenotaph in Liberty Cemetery, Mitchell County, IA.
Pvt. Ellison served in World War II with the U.S. Army and died of wounds received in action in Italy. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
