Herman Elder was born Dec. 5, 1917 to Walter and Evelyn Martha Louise Monson Elder. He died Oct. 29, 1943 and is buried in Story City Cemetery, Story City, IA.
Lt. Elder served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 704th Bomb Squadron, 446th Bomb Group and died near Andros Island in the Bahamas in the crash (in transit) of B-24H #42-7628 “Bastard”.
