Arnold L. Eide was born Oct. 20, 1920 to John and Cleo Carr Eide. He died Aug. 1, 1967.
Sgt. Eide served with the U.S. Army in World War II.
Eide Rites On Thursday
Funeral services for Arnold (Babe) Eide, 46, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Maurice L. McClun officiating and with burial in the Graceland cemetery. Military services will be held at the graveside by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1856, Fort Dodge.
Arnold Leone Eide, son of John and Cleo Eide, was born Oct. 19, 1920, on a farm near Alden. When he was two years old, the family moved to Hayward, Wis. where they resided two years before moving to a farm near Ellsworth. They later resided on a farm in the Rose Grove community, and Mr. Eide received his education in the Ellsworth-Rose Grove community.
The (family later moved to) Fort Dodge, where he completed his education. In 1934, the family moved to Webster City.
On Feb. 1, 1943, he entered the armed services and served with the U. S. Army in the Asiatic-Pacific theater. Following his discharge March 8, 1946, he returned to Webster City.
He was united in marriage March 25, 1950 to Alice Urich at Webster City, and the couple had always since made their home at 1005 James St.
For the past 14 years, Mr. Eide had been employed at the Franklin Mfg. Co., until suffering a stroke while at work on Sept. 6, 1966.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Christine, at home, his mother, Mrs. Cleo Eide, two brothers, Curtis Eide and Gale Eide, all of Webster City; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
