Sheldon, Iowa—Private First Class William A. VanMeeterem of Sheldon is spending an 11 day furlough at home. He is stationed at Camp Pickett, Virginia. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Eich of near Sheldon are enjoying a visit from their son, Thomas Eich, home on a 15-day furlough from New York. Private Ernest Brandt, stationed at Camp Barkeley, Texas, is home on a furlough, visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Simon Brandt of Sheldon.

Thomas Alexander Eich was born Apr. 21, 1920 to Frank Peter and Mary Ann Smith Eich. He died June 10, 1983 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Alexandria, MN.
Petty Officer Eich served with the U.S. Navy in World War II.
