PFC HENRY DYKSTRA
Henry Dykstra left for the army in May, 1940 after enlisting in the field artillery. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Dykstra of Maurice. He was stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash. a year and a half, from there he went to Kodiak near Alaska. He was there a year. His parents do not know where he is now, the last letter they received of him was Nov. 23, but he was not allowed to write where he was. Monday they received a cablegram wishing them a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and saying he was well. He does not get much mail. Those wishing to write him can reach him at this address:

Two Years in Alaska
Pvt. Henry Dykstra, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Dykstra of Maurice, is somewhere in Alaska with the U.S. Army. Henry has been in the service since May 1940. He left the states two years ago this month, and is a member of the Field Artillery.

Pfc. Henry Dykstra, son of John Dykstra of Maurice, arrived home on Monday night after five years in service, three years overseas. He has received an honorable discharge having garnered 113 points. He was in the 97th Infantry Division. He has been inn Belgium, Holland, France, Czechoslovakia and other countries as well as Germany. He came home by plane.

Henry Dykstra, SN 7060456, was born Dec. 19, 1919 at Orange City, Iowa and resided at Route 2, Maurice, Iowa prior to entering the Army on May 28, 1940 at Fort Crook, Nebraska. He served with the 303 Inf. 97th Div. and the 96 F.A. B.N., left for foreign service on Sept. 30, 1941, returned on April 17, 1944, left again on Feb. 19, 1945 and returned on July 1, 1945. He was honorably discharged on July 8, 1945. His application for bonus pay was filed on June 9, 1949, for which he received $500.00.
