Lawrence W. Duggan

A drawing by a navy artist, depicting All Saints Chapel as it stands in the midst of the New Guinea jungle, where it was built by Seabees, is on a Christmas card received by Mrs. Mary Duggan, 817 Grant avenue, from her son, Lawrence W. Duggan, seaman first class, stationed in New Guinea.  Within the two page Christmas greeting, Seaman Duggan wrote, “The cover is a picture of our chapel, which is said to be the finest in New Guinea.”  He also wrote that staff artists had decorated the open air theatre in New Guinea with paintings.  One of the Golden Gate was especially popular, he wrote.
