Howard Francis Dolphin was born Oct. 5, 1925 to James Joseph and Lela Elizabeth Donnelly Dolphin. He died Dec. 4, 1944 and is buried in Saint Marys Cemetery, Manchester, IA.
Pvt. Dolphin served in World War II with the U.S. Army 398th Infantry, 100th Division and was KIA in France. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Silver Star, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon and bronze service star for the Rhineland campaign, WWII Victory ribbon, Combat Infantryman Badge and Marksman Badge with automatic rifle bar.
