Wilbur Dilley, 73, Webster City
Wilbur Dilley, 73, of Webster City died Thursday, Aug. 5, at his home. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Foster’s Funeral Home, with Rev. James Duster officiating and burial at Calvary Cemetery. Graveside flag folding services will be conducted by American Legion Post 191. Friends may call at Foster’s Funeral Home after 5 p.m. Saturday until the time of service.
Wilbur Eugene Dilley, the son of Vern and Ethel (Litten) Dilley was born Jan. 24, 1920, at Duncombe. He was educated in Webster City.
On June 23, 1940, he married Anna Hughes at Webster City. The couple resided in Webster City. From June 1944 through May 1946, Mr. Dilley served with the U.S. Army.
After returning to Webster City, he drove a livestock truck for Hans Oppedahl for 20 years. He was later employed by the Stonega Co-op, where he worked for 15 years. Mr. Dilley also worked at Heller’s Carbonic for 15 years, before retiring in 1982.
He is survived by: his wife, Anna; a daughter, Joan Jensen, Calendar; two sons, Ronald and Richard Dilley, both of Webster City; three granddaughters, Jolene Rude, Kimberley Sandgren and Angela Dilley; one great grandson, Drayke Gorman; four brothers, Laurence Dilley, Kamrar, Clarence Dilley, Avilla, Ind., Leonard Dilley, Wellington, Mo., and Harold Dilley, Litchfield, Minn.; and one sister, Bertha Frakes, Des Moines.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a grandson, Michael Jensen; two brothers, Elmer and Wilfrid Dilley; and one sister, Edith Waggoner.
Mr. Dilley was a member of American Legion Post 191 of Webster City.
Vern and Ethel Litten Dilley were the parents of four sons serving in World War II.
Wilbur Eugene Dilley was born Jan. 24, 1920. He died Aug. 5, 1993 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery, Webster City, IA. Wilbur served with the U.S. Army in World War II.
