Harlan Lester Derby was born Sept. 7, 1918 to Lewis and Stella Mae Lankford Derby. He died Jan. 29, 1945 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.
Sgt. Derby served in World War II with the U.S. Army Co. A, 637th Tank Destroyer Battalion and was KIA on Luzon, Philippine Islands. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
