Delbert De Mille of Littleton Dies on Italian Front
Littleton, Ia. -- The war department has notified Mr. and Mrs. Clarence DeMille of Littleton that their son, Pfc. Delbert DeMille, died Sept.1, 1944, in Italy, as a result of wounds received in action.
Delbert was born Nov. 20, 1918, at Littleton and grew to manhood in this community. He was graduated from Jesup high school in 1936 and afterward was employed at the Rath Packing Co. in Waterloo.
He entered the service Jan. 15, 1943, and received basic training at Belvoir, Va., and later training at an automotive school on Staten Island and took a course in refrigeration at Bloomington, Ill.
Private DeMille went overseas Feb. 20, 1944, landing in north Africa. He then went to Italy.
There will be a memorial service at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22 at the Littleton Presbyterian church in charge of the American Legion.

Delbert Frank DeMille was born Nov. 20, 1918 to Clarence G. and Jennie P. DeMille. He died Sept. 1, 1944 and is buried in Littleton Cemetery, Littleton, IA.
Pvt. DeMille served with the U.S. Army in World War II with an armored engineers battalion. He died of wounds received in action in Italy.
